Yes, you can. To get a good indication of the total cost of car rental abroad, we recommend you use our international reservation system. Of course, you can also contact our call center for reservations abroad by calling +31 (0)88 - 900 55 55.

To change or cancel the reservation through the Avis.com international website, you need to log in again through the "My Avis" section. Cancellations of reservations made through the Avis.com international website can be canceled without charge up to 14 days after the reservation as long as the rental period has not yet started. After this period, the prepaid amount will be reduced by the following cancellation fee;
- If the reservation is canceled 2 days (or more) before departure, 5% of the rental fee will be charged.
- If the reservation is canceled less than 2 days before departure, 10% of the rental fee will be charged. After a cancellation, you will receive a cancellation confirmation by email.
- Changes to your online reservation through the Avis.com international website can be made up to 72 hours before you pick up your rental car.

No. The General Rental Terms and Conditions may vary from country to country. Ask about this when you pick up the rental car abroad at the rental counter to make sure you are fully aware of the rental terms that apply.

An international driving license is not required within the European Union. Outside the European Union, however, it is required for some countries. For the latest information on the international driver's license, check the ANWB website.

Yes, there is a toll in Belgium for trucks with a permissible total weight over 3,500 kg. Avis Autoverhuur B.V.'s trucks are equipped with an On-Board-Unit (OBU). This means that tolls are automatically charged to Avis. If you drive a truck through Belgium, in addition to the invoice for the rental of the truck, you will receive a separate invoice for the toll fee, along with a one-time €25 administration fee.

If it concerns a business rental, this is possible for the following European countries:
- Belgium (50% claimable)
- Germany
- Italy (under certain conditions)
- Luxembourg
- Netherlands (84% claimable)
- Spain (50% if also for private use)
- Sweden (50% claimable)
- Switzerland
- United Kingdom (50% if you rent for more than 5 days)
It is not possible for the following European countries:
- Austria
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Greece
- Ireland
- Norway
- Portugal
For all countries where it is fully or partially possible, the procedure for claiming back the VAT amount is to send a VAT claim form to the local tax authorities. An application must be completed and submitted using the official form. The application must be made by June 30 for VAT for the previous calendar year. This form can be obtained from the local tax authorities.
