Here’s how our roadside assistance works

If you break down with the rental car during the rental period through no fault of your own, Avis will arrange for the rental car to be repaired in the Netherlands within 4 hours at no charge. If a repair is not possible, Avis offers you replacement transportation free of charge.

Please note: Are you traveling abroad in a rental car? If so, take a credit card with you. If you are stranded with a breakdown or damage, most garages require you to pay in advance by credit card. You can then reclaim these costs from Avis.

What should I do in the event of a breakdown?

By breakdown on the road, we mean that you are stranded with your car and really can’t or shouldn’t continue driving. For example, if a warning light comes on. If you can get to a gas station within a few kilometers, try driving there carefully. But it’s better to stop as soon as possible and seek help, if necessary.

Keep in mind, breakdowns are not accidents but rather defects in the car that prevent you from continuing driving. In the event of an accident, contact your Avis branch.
