Frequently asked questions

Questions about charging the electric rental car

  • Charging is simple. Just plug the car into a charging station and start charging using a charge card, debit card, or app. With tens of thousands of charging points across the Netherlands, there’s almost always one nearby.

Using the AVIA Charging app, you can quickly and easily find an available charging station. This app is available in the App Store and the Google Play Store.

  • Charging time depends on the type of charger.

    • At a standard charging station, charging usually takes a few hours
    • At a fast charger along the highway, you can often charge up to around 80% in 20 to 40 minutes

This way, you can quickly get back on the road during your trip.

  • Driving electric is often more cost-effective than driving on gasoline. The exact cost depends on where you charge and the type of vehicle.

Based on average prices in the Netherlands (March 2026):

    • Public charging station: ± €0.45 – €0.50 per kWh
    • Fast charger along the highway: ± €0.60 – €0.75 per kWh

With an average consumption of 15–20 kWh per 100 kilometers, this comes down to: ± €0.05 – €0.10 per kilometer.

For comparison, a gasoline car typically costs around €0.15 – €0.17 per kilometer. This means that electric driving is often significantly more cost-effective.

  • Yes, charging is completely safe, even in the rain. Charging cables and stations are designed to operate reliably in all weather conditions.
