Rent an electric car for Scandinavia

Why choose an electric car in Scandinavia?

Scandinavia is famous for its stunning landscapes and strong commitment to sustainability. Thanks to a well-developed network of fast chargers at fuel stations, hotels, and even in nature reserves, driving electric here is remarkably simple. On top of that, you’ll often enjoy perks like toll-free driving, discounted or free parking, and access to low-emission zones. Quiet, clean, and comfortable. This is the best way to explore the North.

Explore Denmark’s green heart

Begin your trip in the peaceful southern part of the island of Sjælland. Visit the nature reserve of Møns Klint, where you can hike along chalk cliffs and through ancient beech forests. Continue north past Faxe Kalkbrud, a stunning turquoise quarry where you might find fossils. Finish your route in Skjoldungernes Land National Park, near Roskilde, combining quiet lakes, rolling hills, and Viking history in one unforgettable trail.

Drive into tranquility through Norway’s fjords

Start your journey in Bergen, the gateway to Norway’s majestic fjords. Cruise along the coast via Hardangerfjord and head inland. Stop by the peaceful Vøringsfossen waterfall and take a short hike in the Hardangervidda National Park. Wrap up your trip up north in the dramatic Lofoten Islands, where sea, mountains, and sky meet in a way you’ll never forget.

Good to know along the way

  • Charging points: Driving electric through Scandinavia is easy thanks to networks like Ionity and Fortum. Public fast chargers are widely available and compatible with most electric vehicles. Use apps like PlugShare or A Better Route Planner to plan your route and charging stops. Many hotels and lodges also offer EV charging for guests.
  • Traffic rules: Drive on the right-hand side of the road. Daytime running lights are mandatory at all times. In Norway, winter tires are required from November through April depending on the region. In Sweden and Finland, winter tires are strongly recommended or mandatory in winter conditions.
  • Speed limits: Speed limits are generally 50 km/h in urban areas, 80 km/h on rural roads, and between 100–120 km/h on highways. When driving electric, keep in mind that charging points can be far apart in remote areas—plan accordingly.
  • Roads and parking: Toll roads, especially in Norway, use automatic license plate recognition. Electric vehicles often receive discounts or exemptions. Watch for EV parking zones where you can often charge or park for free. Use parking apps like EasyPark or Parkster—ideal in cities with fewer physical meters.
