Dos and don'ts on heat in the car!

Dos to avoid heat in the car

✓ Cool your car as efficiently as possible: open all the windows together and start driving. The wind created provides instant cooling!

✓ Use small sunshades in the car: Prevent heat in the car by using small sunshades with reflective film or put your car in the shade.

✓ Ensure the correct tire pressure: in hot weather, car tires expand. It is definitely advisable to check your tire pressure then. Higher tire pressure is not in itself a disaster, but it can cause reduced driving comfort.

✓ For all the lucky people with a convertible: open the roof and you won't have any problems with the heat.

Don'ts in extremely hot weather

X Blasting the air conditioning : this, of course, is your first instinct. But you then consume twice as much fuel as normal. Quite an expensive cold breeze, in other words.

X Opening opposite doors: this is good idea in itself, but usually not very effective. Because the car is stationary, there will probably be little cooling wind.

X Leaving children or pets alone in the car: unfortunately, it still happens very often that children or pets are left alone in scorching hot cars. When a car is parked in the full sun, the temperature can rise by 10 degrees within 10 minutes.

X Throwing cold water over the car: maybe this will cool the car down, but it's not great for the car. If you want to keep your car's paint nice, don't do this.
